Good day Sir, we have established a Fire Prevention Policy under our Regulating and Establishing bylaw. The policy includes a frequency of inspection depending on building occupancy. i.e. assembly occupancy are annual, industrial are annual, business and personal services are bi-annual, etc. The frequency was developed following recommendations of our master fire plan.

We do conduct business license inspection.

    Hopes this helps!

Julien, what is the construction of the ceiling? gypsum board? At a minimum I would consider the attic hatch to be a closure. thus if the ceiling requires a rating, so does the closure. I would consult with the building department to see if a permit was obtained to complete and work in separating the building into a triplex… If the work was not completed under a permit, an inspection order under “F” in order for them to apply for a building permit to construct an adequate fire separation, and this would also resolve the hatch issue… MY 2 cents!

We are migrating to ICO (beeon). We have a cloud base version, which is completely mobile, we can use it on Ipads, complete inspection in the field, complete orders and we will be able to send them by email in the new update coming in June.

We use firepro for all data recording, including inspections.  We are looking at switching over to FDM software next year.

Good morning Gary, we have a policy for smoke alarms in regard to our suppression crews. We do provide loaner smoke alarms and install them with 3M command hooks with 2 sided tape. We install the smoke alarm on the wall. I will send you our policy. Please send me an email at msaumure@clarence-rockland.com

Good morning, I use a note pad to take notes during my inspections and then transfer my notes in a duty book. I don’t transfer my notes on the computer but it might be something I will start in the new year as we use FirePro and it has that ability. As far as the suppression crews, all officers are issued duty books to keep notes of their activity on calls. IN the new year, all firefighters will be issued a duty books.
