    Good Morning Armando:

I think including it in the FSP is a great idea. If the owner is reluctant, you could suggest to your prosecutor that it be included in your submission for penalty assuming you get a guilty verdict. That way the owner will be obliged by the courts to meet this requirement. Good luck! Judi

We have in the past had the FDC relocated such that it meets the 45 m requirement, but I don’t think we’ve ever gone there without already having a building permit for renovation, etc. open at the time.

    G’luck, Judi

Hi Mark: Here are some of the limitations regarding the setting off of fireworks in the City of Barrie:

    1. You can only set off fireworks for 5 days before and on the holidays that are Victoria Day, Canada Day, New Years Day and Chinese New Years.
    2. You cannot set off fireworks without written permission of the owner of the property – for a park, that would be the City of Barrie.
    3. If you are setting off fireworks on City of Barrie property or outside of the time frames listed above you’d need a permit that would include 5,000,000.00 in liability insurance. (This is usually the limiting factor).

By-law 2010-036 regarding setting off fireworks including safe distances to buildings, etc. can be found here:

    http://www.barrie.ca/City%20Hall/ByLaws/BylawDocs/By-law%202010-036.pdf

This by-law is enforced by police and by-law officers, not the fire department.
