Bridging the Fire Safety Gap: Advocating for Home Fire Sprinklers in Ontario

In Ontario, a paradox exists: individuals are often safer from fire hazards in public spaces like shopping malls than in their own homes. While commercial buildings are mandated to have fire sprinklers, most residential homes lack this critical safety feature. Over the past five years, Ontario has witnessed a troubling number of residential fire fatalities,

Please see the communication below from our friend Said at ESA who is constantly working to grow the relationship between ESA and OMFPOA .  Note as a result of this new ESA Fire Services Enhancement on their website we have removed some forms on the OMFPOA website as you now have a direct link to updated forms on the ESA website.  We have retained other relevant documents that support our understanding and education of electrical concerns.  Please note that nothing has changed in the methods that fire departments access ESA resources.  ESA has just made it more convenient for Fire Departments to access information.

Good morning folks

I hope this email finds you well.

This is to inform you that we have met another milestone promised for Fire Services. We have made an update to the ESA website (www.esasafe.com) where you can now find a link more easily accessible for Fire Services that includes the resources and info you need from ESA. This can be found at the top of the main page.

Or the direct link is https://esasafe.com/fire-services/

On this page you will find all the links you require to ESA’s social media, product recalls, and how to contact ESA. Much of this info was already available. There is no change to how Fire Services would contact ESA for each of their purposes, only that it is all gathered on one page and ensuring all info is up-to-date.

Also, we updated the fact sheets to our current templates.

Thank you to the Provincial Executive for your input, as always and special thanks to Joe Gardiner, North Bay Fire & Emergency Services  for all the efforts in facilitating, coordinating and providing feedback on all these items for us to get to this point with these accomplishments.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Thanks,
