Burks Falls Fire Department was successful in provincial court this week with fines for first offences totalling $30,000 plus costs for charges against 2293398 Ontario Inc. and 2539943 Ontario Inc. related to failing to comply with inspection orders issued against a care and treatment facility operating in Armour Township.

Additionally the presiding Justice of the Peace placed a provincial probation order on both corporations with conditions that require the outstanding work in the inspection orders be completed within six months.

This is another example to remind us that in order to ensure that occupants and our responding fire fighters are protected from fire, consistent enforcement of regulatory requirements is necessary and in some cases requires the involvement of the courts to obtain the required compliance.
