Please see following communication from the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs.

Dear FPPE Committee,

I would like to take a moment to thank you all for your help in respect to the issue of the online sale of smoke and CO alarms in Ontario without meeting proper Ontario, or Canadian standards. Thanks to your efforts, a public education campaign teaching Canadians about what to look for when buying smoke and CO alarms, has been launched.

Please find below an email communication that we will be sending to our members at 10am.  The information has also been posted to our website, under the Public Safety heading, Safety Notices, Recalls and Buyer Beware (https://www.oafc.on.ca/safety-notices-recalls-and-buyer-beware).  Feel free to share any of this information throughout your networks – in fact, we actively encourage you to do so.

Once again, on behalf of the OAFC, thank you again for your work on this campaign. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Take care,
