Hello Patrick,

By the information above I would say yes that the swelling and cracks have effected the integrity of the fire separation and yes you can apply 2.2.2.1. OFC. If the stairway separation integrity is lost it could allow smoke and flames to penetrate the adjacent apartments via open ceiling joints.
