Hey Jon,

The Code is pretty clear, “interconnected smoke alarm systems” require maintenance by a qualified person as per Div C and 6.3.2.1(2) of Div B. If my staff encounter these systems they’ll make sure maintenance has been occurring and if it hasn’t, usually an inspection order is issued to address the problem. Most fire safety companies are on board with it as it’s extra business for them (at least in my area). Procedures in a fire safety plan should reflect this maintenance also.
