Test Your Smoke Alarm Day Virtual Town Hall on July 20th

July 20 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

As most of you know, on September 28, 2023, the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) will be hosting its inaugural Test Your Smoke Alarm Day. The goal of this day is to promote the significance of having working smoke alarms in all residences.

To support communities with this important initiative, the OFM will be hosting two virtual community planning town hall sessions. These sessions are designed to provide guidance on how to participate in Test Your Smoke Alarm Day in your community, answer any questions that departments have as they consider events, and offer support along the way.  These sessions will be most useful for those on your public education and communications teams.

During these sessions, OFM’s Public Education and Communications Unit will cover:

  • how to implement Test Your Smoke Alarm Day  in your community and partnership opportunities with the OFM
  • how to leverage social media, in addition to providing tips and advice for traditional media opportunities, including newspaper, radio and tv
  • where to start, and how to pitch your campaign at the local level.

We invite you to join us at one of the following town hall sessions:

Thursday, July 20, 10:30-12:00 PM (EST)

Thursday, July 20, 6:00-7:30 PM (EST)
