Fire Prevention Officer

Doug joined the fire department in 2006 as a volunteer firefighter, and later suppression Captain.  Doug started in fire prevention in 2009, as a part time public educator and communicator, progressing to full time Fire Prevention Officer.

Doug has certifications from the Ontario Fire College with diplomas as a Fire Prevention Officer, Company Officer, and Training Officer.  NFPA certifications include Fire Inspector level 2, Fire Investigator, Fire Officer level 4, Fire Instructor level 2, Public Fire and Life Safety Educator, and Public Information Officer.

Doug also represents Ontario’s volunteer firefighters on the Ministry of Labour, Training, and Skills Development Section 21 Fire Services Advisory Committee as a labour representative.

Doug is also married with one son. He is active as a Troop Scouter with his son , and with the Masonic Lodges.  He stays active by walking, cycling, and puttering in the garden.  Has also been known to be gone on his motorcycle for periods of time.
