ParticipantHow does everyone deal with parking in fire lanes? We currently have our contract bylaw company that does all our other parking offences looking after it but I’m wondering what everyone else does. It’s one of their biggest sources of complaints, especially from at the hospital. Is there a better model?

ModeratorIn Richmond Hill By-law deals with all parking tickets. Fire deals with issues regarding fire route signage and any other obstructions that are created.

ParticipantIn Brant, by-law officers enforce the fire route. However, in order for them to enforce it on private property, they want the properties identified on our parking bylaw. Mostly we have designated vulnerable occupancies, schools, and a few other places where it may become an issues because of traffic etc. This just came up in our office recently too…

ParticipantGreater Napanee myself and Chiefs can issue tickets, and we issue lots at $75 a piece. Can create extra work, however we have had a reduction in violations which is the goal.
