MemberGood afternoon everyone. I’m writing to start a discussion on Fire Prevention Management software. Interested in what departments are using for example FireHouse / FDM etc.
In Kingston we use FireHouse and all data is currently collected in the field then entered into FireHouse in the office. We are looking to go mobile so that data can be entered directly into FireHouse live while in the field (even though some inspection items may require additional research in the office prior to issuing inspection orders). If you are using FireHouse in the field, what device(s) are you using i.e. ipad, laptop, etc. and are you happy with the product/functionality or are their issues we should try to avoid as we move forward.
Thanks for any feedback and guidance.
Respectfully,
Del Blakney, Kingston

ParticipantOttawa currently uses FDM – we have an older version of it so it is not mobile. We are able to use it to create Orders. – Thanks to our IT!

ParticipantWe at Toronto Pearson Airport use Firehouse. It’s synced to the Firehouse Inspector app on an ipad for field inspections. When it works, the software is fine, but we’ve found it’s incredibly buggy! It’s time consuming with the added step of having to book inspections on your desktop then syncing your ipad with fingers crossed that it actually works (oftentimes it doesn’t and we’re forced to take at least 45 minutes to do a “clear push all”). Firehouse tech support, if there’s anyone even available when you need them, sometimes takes hours to work through the issue. We’ll be exploring the option to use MS Surfaces in the field so we can work directly off the Firehouse software to eliminate the app syncing issue. The desktop software itself is very slow and tedious to enter data. I would welcome the opportunity to converse with anyone whose IT department has developed their own custom inspection “software”…

ParticipantWe use Amanda and are currently in the process of transitioning to Amanda 7. The goal is to have the Amanda app on our phones to review while on site.

ParticipantThere’s a couple threads on this already, any chance they can be combined?
We use BeeOn but the older, non-web based version same as Cornwall uses. It has a ton of capabilities, almost too many and is very cumbersome to use.
Nick will have the newer web based version which is reportedly much better.

We use Fire Pro 2. I can take my laptop with me and access all my files. I have a printer in my jeep and can print my order and serve them.

ParticipantWe are migrating to ICO (beeon). We have a cloud base version, which is completely mobile, we can use it on Ipads, complete inspection in the field, complete orders and we will be able to send them by email in the new update coming in June.

ParticipantHi Del, in Burlington we are using AMANDA7 and it is a great program for inspection and code enforcement activities. With this, we also use FDM for incident response – tracking but are transitioning to Emergency Reporting software. Available to discuss anytime.
